3. What is the difference between "horizontal grain" and "vertical grain"?
- Our horizontal grain product is laid flat or called plain press, which shows off the bamboo nodes. Laying the
bamboo slats on edge makes the vertical grain or called side press.
4. How does the "carbonized" product differ from the "natural" colored product?
- The carbonized color of our products is derived from a steam and boiling treatment process called
"Carbonization" that heats the bamboo and gives it a warm, tea-stained color throughout the bamboo strips, while the natural color is the color of the bamboo treated in a separate process.
5. What makes your products environmentally friendly?
- It’s also part of our mission is to reduce the dependence on dwindling timber resources by offering
competitively priced bamboo building materials of the highest quality for residential and commercial application.
6. What makes bamboo a better alternative than commonly used hardwood flooring?
- Unlike hardwood trees requiring minimum of 30-80 years to maturity, bamboo is a grass that grows to maturity
in less than 6 years and is renewably harvested over and over from the same plants.
7. Isn't bamboo what pandas eat?
- Our bamboo is from the MOSO (Phyllostachus Pubescens) specie which is not a food source or habitat for
pandas. There remain about 700 to 1000 Giant Panda in China, they mainly live in western China of Sichuan, Gansu and other provinces and their habitats are usually at elevations of 3,000 to 8,000 feet. But our company is located in the Zhejiang province which is about 2000 miles east to the Giant Panda habitats and well below the cooler elevations that the Giant Panda favor.
